Monika Schott
Principal Consultant

Monika is a tertiary qualified and experienced communications professional with some fifteen years experience in community consultation and education, corporate communications and education.

Monika’s working career began in the fine arts as a practicing artist having exhibited and sold work across Australia, and in arts administration. A teaching career soon followed which progressed into conservation, community education and community liaison within the corporate sector. Monika moved into public relations within a consultancy, the Department of Education in community liaison and has worked under SOUP communications since 2003.

Monika has gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Communications at Victoria University, an Honours Degree in Fine Arts at RMIT, a Graduate Diploma in Education at Melbourne University and a Diploma in Professional Writing at the Australian College of Journalism. At the end of 2006, Monika will have completed her Masters in Communications.

Monika combines her arts, education and communications expertise to produce unique communications and education programs. These include a community consultative visionary project with the Heathdale community in the Department of Human Services Neighbourhood Renewal program, strategic communications advice and support to VicUrban and a community education and art project involving Victorian primary school children.

Monika writes for the media and writes and illustrates for children and young adults. Her most recent published work is a short story in What my favourite teacher taught me titled My favourite teacher taught me to grieve.

Monika is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA), honorary member of the Community Liaison Committee for City West Water and a Public Arts Advisory Committee and honorary Communications Manager for Wyndham Community Arts Alliance.
